Online Courses (May-July)

The ACP and LTCD

This course begins with an overview of the ACP, including its purpose, structure, and accreditation requirements. Candidates will then learn about Curling Canada’s Long-Term Curler Development (LTCD) model and its stage-by-stage guidelines. Instructor: Rob Krepps

 

Club Programming 1

This course begins by introducing the key club programming principles that all ACP Pros need to understand. Candidates will then learn about programming best practices for the Foundational Stages and the Recreational Pathway. Instructor: Rob Krepps and Bobby Ray.

 

Technical Development 1

This course covers the essential delivery and sweeping information that all ACP Pros need to understand. Candidates will build the necessary technical competencies to support their teaching work with novice to intermediate level curlers. Instructor: Rob Krepps.

 

Tactical Development 1

This course covers the essential strategy and tactics information that all ACP Pros need to understand. Candidates will build the necessary tactical competencies to support their teaching work with novice to intermediate level curlers. Instructor: Rob Krepps

 

The Curling System 

This course begins with a thorough description of the Curling System, complete with the specific roles of all governing bodies. Candidates will then learn about the embedded Curling Industry, and how it can help clubs to become more successful enterprises. Instructor: Bobby Ray.

Other Training

In-Person Training (August)

This in-person training weekend gives Associate Pro candidates the opportunity to learn from a group of experienced Master Pros. Candidates will benefit from learning opportunities delivered on the ice, in the classroom, and around the host club.

 

NCCP Teaching and Learning (September)

This interactive online activity is a cornerstone of the NCCP and prepares coaches to better support their curlers in training. Candidates will learn about four distinct topics: Foundations, From Plan to Action, Approaches, and Reflection. 

Online Evaluation

Portfolio Project 1 

This project is the key evaluation requirement for Associate Pro Accreditation. Candidates are expected to document the key lessons from their training in an online Learning Portfolio for subsequent review by a panel of three ACP Master Pros.

 

NCCP MED Test 

The Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Test is a requirement of the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) and of the ACP/ The MED test confirms that coaches are fully equipped to handle ethical situations that emerge in sport. The cost of this online evaluation is $85.
