The ACP’s Teaching Pro Program includes progressive learning experiences that make it possible for our members to earn a meaningful income from instructing curlers of various ages and abilities.
Note: In order to have the necessary credibility with clients and clubs, all ACP Teaching Pros must have the necessary Competitive Credentials.
Associate Teaching Pro

Timeline: June to October

The ACP and LTCD

This course begins with an overview of the ACP, including its purpose, structure, and accreditation requirements. Candidates will then learn about Curling Canada’s Long-Term Curler Development (LTCD) model and its stage-by-stage guidelines. Instructor: Rob Krepps

 

Technical Development 1

This course covers the delivery and sweeping content that all Associate Teaching Pros need to understand. Candidates will gain the necessary technical knowledge to support their teaching work with lower skilled curlers, both youth and adult.  Instructor: Rob Krepps

 

Tactical Development 1

This course covers the strategy and tactics content that all Associate Teaching Pros need to understand. Candidates will gain the necessary tactical knowledge to support their teaching work with lower skilled curlers, both youth and adult.  Instructor: Rob Krepps

 

NCCP Teaching and Learning

This course includes valuable pedagogical content that all ACP Teaching Pros will benefit from. Candidates will learn how to implement an appropriately structured practice and how to make interventions that promote learning and development. Instructor: Jennifer Ferris

 

Club Programming 1

This course begins by introducing the essential programming principles that all ACP Teaching Pros need to understand. It then presents programming best practices aimed at curlers on the Recreational Pathway and at the Foundational Stages. Instructors: Bobby Ray and Rob Krepps

 

Curling Coordination 1

This course introduces a framework designed to plan, organize, lead, and evaluate successful leagues, events, and training opportunities. Candidates will then learn how to apply this framework to both Foundational Stages and Recreational Pathway programming. Instructor: Rob Krepps

This three-day training weekend gives candidates the opportunity to learn from ACP Master Pros with extensive competitive and/or teaching experience. Candidates will benefit from learning experiences both on the ice and in the classroom.

 

West: August 7-9, 2026 – Saville Centre, Edmonton, AB

East: August 14-16, 2026 – Oakville Curling Club, Oakville, ON

Note: candidates will be evaluated on their ability to teach Novice Adult and U-15 curlers.

Learning Portfolio

This project requires candidates to document their key takeaways and expected applications from all Associate Teaching Pro training in an online Learning Portfolio. Each candidate’s entries are then evaluated by the Course Instructor and their Mentor Pro.

 

Final Assignment

The evaluation process concludes with a Final Assignment that is designed to ensure that candidates can apply the information in their Learning Portfolios to the work that they will be licensed to do as an Associate Teaching Pro.

Head Teaching Pro

Timeline: November to May

Technical Development 2

ACP Teaching and Learning

This course begins with an examination of Deliberate Practice by way of the SCORE framework. Candidates will then learn how to best deliver lessons, clinics, and programs to higher skilled curlers, both youth and adult. Instructor: Rob Krepps

 

Club Programming 2

This course builds on the programming principles that were introduced on Club Programming 1. Candidates will then learn about best practices to support curlers on the Competitive Pathway of our LTCD model.  Instructor: Rob Krepps

 

Curling Coordination 2

This course builds on the four-step framework introduced in Curling Coordination 1. Candidates will learn how to plan, organize, lead, and evaluate programming aimed at curlers on the Competitive Pathway. Instructor: Rob Krepps

 

Teaching Business Essentials

This course begins by showing candidates how to develop an effective marketing plan for their teaching business. Candidates will then learn how a few basic financial management tools can help to make their business more successful. Instructors: Rob Krepps and Bobby Ray

This three-day training weekend gives candidates the opportunity to learn from ACP Master Pros with extensive competitive and/or teaching experience. Candidates will benefit from learning experiences both on the ice and in the classroom.

 

April 2027 – Saville Centre, Edmonton, AB

Note: candidates will be evaluated on their ability to teach a Competitive Pathway team.
