Competitive Credentials

To ensure credibility with employers and clients, ACP Teaching Pros must have appropriate Competitive Credentials or the equivalent. This can be demonstrated through any of the following Pathways:

 

Pathway 1 Candidate has played or coached in at least one of the following Tier 1 Events:

  • Olympic Games (Men’s, Women’s, or Mixed Doubles)
  • World Championship (Men’s, Women’s, or Mixed Doubles)
  • Canadian Olympic Trials (Men’s or Women’s, or Mixed Doubles) *
  • Canadian Championship (Men’s or Women’s) *
  • Canada Cup of Curling *
  • Grand Slam of Curling Event (Tier 1 Only)

*Note: Candidates who have competed in comparable events in another country will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Pathway 2 Candidate has played or coached in at least one of the following Tier 2 Events, plus at least 10 CTRS/CMDR Events.

  • World Championship (Juniors, Seniors, or Mixed)
  • FISU Games (or Win U SPORTS Championship)
  • Canadian Olympic Pre-Trials (Men’s or Women’s)
  • Canadian Championship (Mixed Doubles)
  • PointsBet Invitational
  • Provincial Championship (Men’s or Women’s)

Note: Candidates who meet the Tier 2 Event criteria, but not the 10 CTRS/CMDR criteria, can still qualify through Pathway 3.

Pathway 3 Candidate has played or coached in at least one of the following Tier 3 Events, plus at least 10 CTRS/CMDR Events:

  • Canadian Championship (U-18, U-20/Junior, Seniors, or Mixed) 
  • U-25 NextGen Classic (Men’s, Women’s or Mixed Doubles)
  • U SPORTS Championship 
  • CCAA Championship
  • Canada Winter Games 
  • Provincial Mixed Doubles Championship

Note: Pathway 3 candidates are also required to complete the ACP’s Winning Edge Certificate.

Pathway 4 Candidate has completed one of the following Advanced Coach Education programs:

  • Curling Canada Competition-Development (Certified)
  • Advanced Coaching Diploma (Curling)
  • Chartered Professional Coach (Curling)
  • University Degree in Coaching, Kinesiology, etc.*

*Must have also played or coached in at least 10 CTRS/CMDR Events.

Note: Pathway 4 candidates are also required to complete the ACP’s Winning Edge Certificate.

Pathway 5 Candidates who do not qualify through Pathways 1-4 must complete each of the following Required Equivalencies:

  • Curling Canada Competition Coach (Certified)
  • Proficient on ACP Technical Skills Test (Associate Teaching Pro)
  • Advanced on ACP Technical Skills Test (Head Teaching Pro)
  • ACP Teaching Pro Mentorship Program (Online)

Note: Pathway 5 candidates must also complete the ACP’s Winning Edge Certificate.
